Wife Shop!

Wednesday, March 30th, 2005

Normally if I hear about people being desperate to marry, its usually older women or the occasional gal who has some goal of being engaged by 25 or something like that. So I thought it was rather interesting to read something from the other side of the fence — the desperate guys who’ve had their biological clock go off and scream at them for not having kids yet. Heck, it kinda reminds me of some friends who are driving themselves nuts for not having ever had a girlfriend yet.

If you’re one of those guys, its not all that its cracked up to be!

(if you couldn’t tell, no, I’m not looking to get married anytime soon)

Anyhow, here’s the link: Wife Shop! (salon)

Camera-happy at the San Diego Zoo

Tuesday, March 29th, 2005

On Saturday I went with Ray, his brother Jeff, Mimi, and Lorraine down to SD for some time at the zoo and the USS Midway. I liked the zoo quite a bit more than the Midway, but thats probably more from the audio-tour format where you spend all your time trying to listen and rush through the ship. Might as well watch a documentary for that kind of experience, but I digress.

Anyhow, I thought it was rather amusing that after a short time at the zoo Ray, Jeff, and Mimi looked absolutely pooped. They were slowly wandering between exhibits, sitting down whenever they could. Weaklings, they are. Lorraine and I, on the other hand, took pictures of just about every animal we passed by until they all started looking the same. Its too bad that we missed out on the reptiles and elephants, though we do have birds, polar bears, hoofed creatures, and a really cute baby kangaroo.

The cute fuzzy baby kangaroo …

Would have more pics to post, but I found that two pixels on the CCD of my C-750 are permanently stuck at green. Not sure when it happenned, but every single shot from that camera since Saturday now has 2 very annoying green dots.

Time to get really familiar with the clone tool …

Running on fumes

Monday, March 28th, 2005

I feel like my body is ready to break down. The last time I got 8 hours of sweet dream-filled continuous sleep was probably two Saturdays ago. Since then it’s been 4 or 5 or 5-and-a-half tops. As fun as The Decemberists concert and San Diego were, from a physiological standpoint I am majorly screwed.

No Battlefield 1942 for me till I catch up on some zzzs…

Hide and seek alarm

via Slashdot

Clocky (MIT) is a clock for people who have trouble getting out of bed. When the snooze bar is pressed, Clocky rolls off the table and finds a hiding spot, a new one every day.

This would’ve been sooo useful for all those fscking 8am classes. Seems kind of weird that I’m surprisingly good about waking up at 6am now for work — absolutely unimaginable one year ago. Though I think I’m more driven by not wanting to hear a nastygram on my voicemail from Beckie at 7am if I don’t wake up :P
